Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Fluid | Review

Guest Post By Swathi

I have been using the Kama Ayurveda- Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Fluid – Ayurvedic Night Serum since a month and will be sharing my thoughts on this product with all of you today. Kumkumadi taila is extensively mentioned in Ayurveda for providing glowing and lustrous skin, which is why I was searching for authentic kumkumadi taila. I have tried kumkumadi taila from a few other brands before but was not satisfied. Then one of my friends recommended Kama Ayurveda products to me.

Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Fluid|Review

This beauty fluid is packed in a glass bottle with a dropper. The packaging is grand and will take you back to the vintage era. The price of a 12ml bottle is INR 2295 but I purchased it for an offer price of 1800 bucks. Once you open the bottle, the mild fragrance of the fluid enchants the room. The fluid is light orange in color and mildly greasy in texture. In the dry climate during the winters, it gets completely absorbed into the skin. However, if you have oily skin or live in a humid area then it’s better to avoid this product as it may make way for acne.

The skin tends to get dry in winter and we need to keep moisturizing it. We all know that oil is the best moisturizer but when it comes to the face we tend to worry about applying oil, due to the fear of acne. However, as I mentioned above, this serum is quite light-weight and does not clog the pores, making it perfect for those with dry skin. The base of this beauty fluid is sesame oil and the unique Ayurvedic formulation is prescribed for glowing and radiant skin. The ingredients of the fluid are also known to prevent mild bacterial infections. The ideal age for trying this product would be the late twenties and early thirties because the serum helps to preserve the youthfulness of the skin.

Overall, I’m satisfied with the Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Fluid and think that it lives up to its claims of nourishing dull and damaged skin. This fluid is perfect for the winter months as a moisturizer, as it gives a glow and hydration to the face. However, I would be happy if they dropped the price a little.

Mauvelush November Mellow Edition | Unboxing and Review

It’s back, it’s bigger AND it’s better! The Mauvelush November Mellow Edition is here to sweep all the bag lovers off their feet 🙂 I received mine last week and here are all the items that this month’s box brought to my doorstep.

Mauvelush November Mellow Edition | Unboxing and Review

1.  Chioma Cupcake Sling (INR 1399/-) – The star of the box that impressed everyone on Instagram is this Chioma Cupcake Sling that looks super cute and is super roomy too. The price of this bag is INR 1399 and it does look worth the price tag. The quality of the material is top-notch and this bag is a great choice for a casual day out.

Mauvelush November Mellow Edition | Unboxing and Review

2. Hedonista Choco-Nut Lip Salve (INR 465/-) – This giant tub of chocolatey-nutty goodness is not meant for eating even though it smells delicious. This is a gourmet lip balm by Hedonista that has amazing ingredients such as cocoa butter and peanut butter and is very nourishing on the lips. The price tag of INR 465/- does seem hefty but the jar will last you a while and this lip balm is by far the most decadent lip product I have ever used.

Mauvelush November Mellow Edition | Unboxing and Review

3. White Ceramic Mug (INR 350/-) – This white mug has a very classy and elegant design and will definitely be my best friend this winter. It is larger than your average coffee mug and heavier too, which means that the material is of higher quality, therefore justifying the price tag of INR 350.

Mauvelush November Mellow Edition | Unboxing and Review

4. Boho Tassel Neckpiece (INR 399/-) – I am a fan of delicate jewellery and this long necklace with a bright blue tassel definitely fits the bill for me. This piece is unique while being extremely wearable and can add some oomph to a plain tee.

Mauvelush November Mellow Edition | Unboxing and Review

5. Statement Gold Bracelet (INR 249/-) – Another piece of delicate jewellery that can be worn on its own or can be layered with other bracelets or a watch to create a nice little stack on your wrist.

Mauvelush November Mellow Edition | Unboxing and Review

6. The Black Rosette Hot Chocolate Mix (INR 350/-) – Making hot chocolate is even easier with The Black Rosette Hot Chocolate Mix. Just add a few spoonfuls to steaming hot milk and you are all set for a chilly morning. The price is a little high but the taste and the packaging did impress me.

Overall, the Mauvelush November Mellow Edition has items worth approximately INR 3200 while the box is priced at INR 1999 for a one-month subscription. This is definitely not one of the most affordable subscription boxes out there but it is certainly a luxury box that lives up to its name with the quality of the products. I do wish that there was one more item in this box to make it more affordable but if you like the cupcake bag then this box is still a really good deal. You can book yours on www.mauvelush.com and can use the coupon code MRINALI10 for an extra 10% off. So do grab yours now to be winter-ready this season 🙂

I hope that this review was helpful. Check out @Mauvelush on Instagram to find out more about a contest they are running where you can get the December box for free!

Seer Secrets Lemongrass Green Tea | Review

Green Tea is my go-to drink whenever I have had a little too much to eat or just need a cozy cup to cuddle with. The Seer Secrets Lemongrass Green Tea is the latest member of my green tea family, and I must confess that I am completely partial to this baby. Seer Secrets has managed to impress me yet again with this product and here is why.

Seer Secrets Lemongrass Green Tea | Review

This green tea has a unique texture and comes in the form of “pearls” of tea leaves. You are supposed to drop 2-3 pearls in a cup, add boiling water and let it simmer, within a few minutes you will have a cup of delicious and soothing green tea that resembles the green tea at fancy tea places and hotels in terms of flavor.

Seer Secrets Lemongrass Green Tea | Review

Unlike the standard bitter green teas, this one is pretty mild and has a refreshing zesty taste and smell. This is due to the lemongrass extracts added to the tea leaves which make the tea tastier and healthier too. Also, this tea arrived at my doorstep in the signature Seer Secrets tin with a beautiful glass jar inside that held the actual product. The glass jar adds a luxurious element to the tea brewing and drinking experience and is a wonderful touch in my opinion.

Seer Secrets Lemongrass Green Tea | Review

This tea contains anti-oxidants, regulates blood pressure, boosts metabolism and aids digestion. I enjoy drinking it post a heavy meal and it instantly makes me feel lighter and energized. Overall, it lives up to its claims and the non-bitter taste makes it a winner for me. The price of INR 423 for a 50gm jar is a little steep but if you are a connoisseur of the beverage who is willing to spend the money for a great cup of tea then you must try out this product!

I hope that this review was helpful. You can buy the Seer Secrets Lemongrass Green Tea here.

A Candid Chat On Fertility and Hormones

Editor’s Note – Hi guys, as some of you may know, I am starting a guest blog series here and the first post in this series is something that might be very useful for all my female readers. So over to Becca who will be sharing her experience with fertility issues and offering some advice on how to cope with the same.

Hi guys!

Thank you so much for having me here, I blog over at Post IVF world and as the name suggests, I talk about my life now that IVF is over, I also speak a lot about hormone health, mental health, and pregnancy loss. (but honestly, it isn’t all doom and gloom like it may seem)

Seeing as I have the opportunity to write this guest post, I really want to talk to you guys about fertility.

Have you thought about your own? If you haven’t you are not alone!

Education around fertility and hormone health is severely lacking in our society, mostly because it’s not fully understood or recognized as something that is a general issue, but the facts are, fertility starts declining at just age 27 for women. I bet most of you didn’t realize that?

Most people think fertility issues are largely from the women’s side but recent studies have shown fertility issues are one- third female issues, one-third male and one-third unidentified reasons.

What that really means though, is that it could happen to any of us, often to people who, on the surface appear to be perfectly healthy people!

I was lucky, in that I found out I was infertile at 15, I was young and although it has been very hard at least I knew where I stood early on. I could make a plan to have donor egg IVF, I had information to make choices.

There are so many people who don’t feel able to talk about their hormone health, hormonal issues or concerns with their reproductive system until its so late that there isn’t much that can be done.

I am campaigning as hard as I can to raise awareness and get people talking about fertility, it is something that I want people to understand is okay to talk about, and there are some amazing communities out there that can offer advice and support!

pregnant-woman-1910302_1920

So let’s get talking!!

I have always found it relatively easy to talk about hormones and the reproductive system, in turn, this has helped my friends be more aware and knowledgeable on this subject, and has helped them feel confident to go to their GP when they feel like something isn’t right.

So why not, next time you are talking to your friends, ask them about their periods and hormones, get the conversation going, it is amazing how many people I talk to about this and they say they haven’t had a period for ages but are presuming everything is okay, I know it can be scary, but as someone who can’t have children, get checked out, before it is too late.

(Pass this article around as much as you like, it might really help someone!!)

You might find that people close to you are struggling more with this kind of thing than you ever knew, and just felt ashamed or embarrassed to discuss it (fertility issues can do this to you!)

For now, I wanted to write a set of guidelines, something to help people out who are supporting someone going through fertility issues or concerns, I get contacted quite often from people who just don’t know what to say, even if they are lifelong friends, it can feel like a bit of a minefield!

So, here is my checklist of Do’s and Don’ts:

Do’s

1. Just sit with them and listen, you probably don’t have the questions, especially if this is an unknown world to you, so the kindest thing you can do is to be quiet, they will probably need to just talk it out! (for me, the more I talked about it the more it made sense in my head)

2. Let them know you are here, no matter what, you love them for who they are! Fertility can be so harsh and can make you question what’s good about yourself. If you can’t do the one thing nature intended (at least this is how I felt) I couldn’t be fixed, and I needed to know it hadn’t changed how people saw me!

3. Let them know that whatever they are feeling is completely natural, and it is okay to feel this way, for as long as they need, it’s hard enough without beating yourself up because you feel guilty for feeling the way you do.

Don’ts

1. Tell them everything will be okay, because it might not be, and it can make them feel like you truly don’t understand how they are feeling.

2. Rush them, when you find out you have infertility problems, it can be a period of mourning or grief, and this is something that can’t be fixed overnight.

3. Tell them that your friend had fertility issues then got pregnant naturally after 2 months, although it sounds positive, this is an unlikely scenario and really isn’t helpful to people who are going through it.

4. Force them to discuss it, they might not be ready, you can still be there for them by doing things you usually do and not treating them any different!

I know this is short, but hopefully, it goes some way to help you support others, and if any of you guys have more questions or just want to chat fire me an email, I would love to connect!

Fall Nails Are Here!

Is it just me or does every girl feel a little more bad ass with a dark and vampy nail color on her talons? My favorite dark shade is oxblood and since fall is here, I can finally flaunt it without people thinking I am a little crazy. On my nails today is the shade Plumtastic from the Colorbar Quick Finish Nail Lacquer Range. This nail paint is richly pigmented and dries very quickly too but unfortunately, the brand seems to have discontinued the range because it is out of stock on almost all websites. However, if you do find it somewhere then do grab it because it is super opaque and longlasting while being pretty affordable too!

Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream and Nurturance Night Cream | Review

Sometimes, I buy skincare products on a whim and the Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream was such an impulsive buy. Even though this day cream is best suited for dry skin, I bought it regardless of the fact that my skin is oily to combination, thinking that it will be a nice treat for the winter days ahead. Luckily, this cream suited my skin like a dream, so much so that I immediately placed an order for the Nurturance Night Cream from the same range as well. Usually, I’m not too matchy-matchy about my day and night skincare routine but using these two products in conjunction has worked quite well for my skin and here is how.

Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream and Nurturance Night Cream Review

Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream and Nurturance Night Cream Review

The day cream has a thick consistency, as opposed to the lotions from Plum, and is also pretty creamy. It spreads fairly easily on the skin though and you only need a few dots of the product to cover the entire face. It has a slight oiliness to it, but not in a bad way – more like the lightweight oiliness of serums. Also, this does not create a thick film on the face and gets absorbed fairly quickly, leaving the skin hydrated and glowing but not greasy. I love the fact that this cream has SPF 30, which I need at the moment because I am starting to incorporate Vitamin C in my skincare regimen. Overall, this cream is the perfect product for the cold season ahead when you need to give a little extra nourishment to your parched skin. It seems like the product replenishes the natural oils of the face without causing excessive oiliness and the cream should suit all skin types except extremely oily skin.

Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream and Nurturance Night Cream Review

Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream and Nurturance Night Cream Review

The night cream from the range is also extremely nourishing without being heavy on the skin and sinks into the face beautifully. Along with many natural oils, the product also contains sea buckthorn extracts which are supposed to be an excellent source of Omega 7 fatty acids which repair the skin, while the grape seed oil acts as a powerful anti-oxidant. The only thing I don’t like about this night cream is the bulky glass jar which is not travel-friendly at all. I wish that this product had a more compact packaging like the convenient tube of the day cream. The day cream and the night cream can be purchased as a combo pack for INR 1000 (current discounted price is INR 815), which seems pretty affordable to me for the quality of the products.

All the Plum products are paraben-free, phthalate-free and SLS-free and are also extremely gentle on the skin. I love these mild yet effective skincare products that have a faint fragrance that uplifts my mood in the morning and at night. So if you are someone who is planning to pamper your skin a little bit extra during the winter months then do give this range a shot.

I hope that this review was helpful, you can buy the Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream and Nurturance Night Cream here.
