Hi, guys! How are you doing today? I am so happy to be able to write for Lipstick For Lunch! I’ve been a fan of this blog and Mrinalini for a while now so it’s a pleasure to be writing this. Thank you Mrinalini!
Tarte Cosmetics is a makeup and skincare brand that has been around since 2000. Tarte is best known for being free of the not so great stuff like (but not limited to) parabens, mineral oil, phthalates fragrances, and gluten. They are also cruelty-free and offer many vegan products. It is one of my favorite brands but they certainly have hits and misses. I’d also like to mention that Tarte has AMAZING gift/value sets! Almost all of these items are available in some sort of a mini for a smaller cost, a value set with minis to try, or an amazing gift set for the holidays.
WHAT IT IS “A daily, vegan gel moisturizer that soothes & refreshes parched skin with electrolyte-packed hydration.”
WHAT IT DOES “Gives a healthy glow from H2O. This cooling gel features a thirst-quenching cocktail of hyaluronic acid & electrolyte-balancing sea salts that hydrates skin without weighing it down. As the non-greasy formula quickly absorbs, it infuses skin with marine antioxidants from our Rainforest of the Sea™ complex, fighting free radicals & plumping the appearance of fine lines for a bouncy, ageless look.”
This stuff is so good! It will instantly make such an improvement to dry skin. Almost everyone’s skin changes from season to season due to the weather changes. My skin always gets dry in winter and this stuff just magically transforms it into smooth, supple skin.
WHAT IT IS “Long-wearing color & moisture-rich full coverage lipstick in 24 creamy shades.”
WHAT IT DOES “Discover long-wearing lip color powered by H2O with this full coverage hydrating lipstick. The ultra-creamy vegan formula combines intense pigments & buttery-smooth conditioners for comfort-swipe color that locks in place with no feathering or bleeding. Make water work for you through each sea-inspired shade infused with regenerative lip-quenchers & the antioxidant Rainforest of the Sea™ complex to help smooth the look of lip lines.”
All of these are amazing and they are formulated in the best way. They will add a ton of hydration to your lips and will smoothen lip lines. They aren’t transfer-proof or the most long-wearing lipsticks but are some of the most full coverage and hydrating ones. My favorite is Set Sail, which I consider my ‘perfect nude’.
WHAT IT IS “A cult classic for over a decade, this best-selling vegan mascara lengthens, curls, volumizes & conditions, acting like a push-up bra for your lashes.”
WHAT IT DOES “Curls & separates every lash with a 360° magniLASH wand for a naturally defined & voluminous look. The mascara’s blend of good-for-you ingredients like rice bran, olive esters & provitamin B5 soften & nourish lashes with each stroke.”
My holy grail mascara! This stuff is superb. This isn’t a claim but since using this product exclusively, I feel like my lashes have grown and become so much softer. This just gives such a nice appearance to the lashes, it never transfers to the under eye area. If you haven’t tried this yet, please do! I don’t think you’ll regret it!
WHAT IT IS “A best-selling, full-coverage, vegan, blendable concealer that instantly brightens, smooths & shapes skin.”
WHAT IT DOES “Provides a flawless matte finish that won’t flake or crease, even if you have dry skin, fine lines, or pore problems – no setting powder necessary. Mango seed & shea butters naturally regenerate & illuminate all complexions, letting you play with light to lift your features.”
I think by now everyone has heard of this stuff. Yes, it is as amazing as everyone says it is. I think it is way too expensive but it’s so nice. Full coverage, doesn’t crease, and it is amazing for contouring and highlighting. It is a bit on the dry side of things and it’s a bit thick, but I love it.
WHAT IT IS “An award-winning powder blush with long-wearing Amazonian clay, so pigment looks freshly applied all day.”
WHAT IT DOES “Super soft, silky powder chock full of true-color mineral pigments lets you layer on your glow with no harsh lines or chalky build-up. Its micronized Amazonian clay helps control oil & infuse moisture for balanced skin & seamless blending. The magnetized pan lets you pop your favorite shade from its compact to create a custom palette.”
This might be the best blush ever. It lasts forever and is buildable – it just looks so natural. I think these are too expensive BUT Tarte has many blush value kits that have just launched and I think those are a steal! Pick one of those up and you won’t regret it.
WHAT IT IS “A lightweight, 12-hour concealing serum offering buildable, medium coverage with skin-soothing benefits.”
WHAT IT DOES “Mask imperfections while sealing in radiance & hydration with this buildable, medium coverage concealing serum. It features concentrated levels of pigments suspended in deep conditioning serum made up of 20 percent water to deliver the coverage you desire & the moisture your skin craves. The vegan friendly formula is powered by the proprietary Rainforest of the Sea™ complex that serves as the ultimate defense for skin, helping protect from daily aggressors & premature signs of aging. Apply it directly from the custom applicator wand to mask any redness, dark spots & acne or to brighten the undereye area.”
I’m just not a fan. I don’t think it offers great coverage and I didn’t see the skincare benefits.
WHAT IT IS “A 2-in-1, vegan lip crayon that helps prime & line a perfectly contoured pout.”
WHAT IT DOES “The versatile 2-in-1 lip crayon helps you create vibrant tarteist™ looks no matter your skill level thanks to its creamy, easy-glide formula that deposits rich, hydrating pigment in just one simple stroke.”
I received this in a subscription box and was so excited! I tried it the next day and the tip broke off, not once but twice. When I got it on it was so dry and definitely not creamy.
WHAT IT IS “A translucent, silky finishing powder with Amazonian clay that keeps makeup in place & diffuses imperfections.”
WHAT IT DOES “This microfine loose, invisible clay powder blends effortlessly into any skin tone to set your foundation to a breathable matte finish without chalky residue or flashback. The secret’s in the clay – it naturally balances all skin types to absorb oil, minimize the appearance of pores & make your makeup last without flaking or clinging to dry patches. You can also use the oil free formula as an undereye baking or treatment powder – Amazonian clay will absorb shine to reveal a smooth, soft-focus finish.”
OH THE BACKFLASH. I made the mistake of baking and I just looked so white. I also tried it under camera flash and it was just like “hello! I am powder! hear me roar!”. Avoid this if you’d prefer to stay not white, your skin tone.
WHAT IT IS “Weightless, talc-free makeup setting & baking powder with tiny, light-reflecting particles that blur out pores & lines.”
WHAT IT DOES “This silky, vegan powder sets & protects without flaking, creasing or caking. The loose, vanilla-tinted formula blends invisibly to absorb shine & set your makeup to a matte finish. It also has magic micronized filtered particles that diffuse light to give you healthy, more luminous dimension, making it the perfect setting powder to prevent flashback in photos.
It’s hypoallergenic & infused with antioxidant algae & marine ingredients to protect & balance skin while it blurs imperfections. You can also use this multi-tasker to bake your concealer, brighten up dark circles or filter out pores & fine lines.”
Like smooth operator™, this just makes you look so white. Not even brighter, just white.
What it is: “This state-of-the-art BB cream offers numerous benefits for smooth, youthful-looking skin Features SPF 30 sun protection Comes in five shades Indulge your skin with this powerful multitasker that works as a primer, moisturizer, light foundation, antiaging treatment, and sunscreen to give you a youthful-looking glow. Worn alone or as the perfect base for makeup, this 12-hour, age-defying, oil-free primer offers light-to-medium, buildable coverage that helps even skin tone and other skin imperfections while diffusing light to minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and pores. The creamy, silky formula goes on smooth and blends easily, leaving you with a natural-looking, flawless finish with a broad-spectrum, chemical-free SPF 30 that offers ideal protection from the sun’s harmful UVA/UVB rays.”
Firstly, I still don’t know what this guy wants to do. He wants to prime, moisturize, treat AND give you sunscreen. Some people may think that is great, and I did too. I was into the idea of it but I put on the shade ‘light’ and became oranger than an umpa lumpa. Needless to say, I’m not a fan.

Hello people! As we slowly drag ourselves away from Monday and towards the weekend (lol, yes, I start dreaming about the weekend from Tuesday itself!), let us talk about some more skincare from Glamisha. I spoke about their lovely face wash yesterday but they also sent me their Skin Lightening Cream with Kojic Acid Depalmitate and Arbutin. Although I am always on the fence about “lightening creams”, I do like to try them out, not to make my skin lighter, but to get rid of the pigmentation on my face left behind by acne. So here is what I thought about the Glamisha Skin Lightening Cream.
This cream has a very unique texture and is quite different from anything I have used before. It is quite thick and does not get absorbed into the skin immediately upon application, even after massaging for a few minutes, the white streaks stay pretty visible, but after around 3-4 minutes, it automatically sinks into the skin and the whiteness disappears. Once fully absorbed by the skin, it feels quite light and comfortable on the skin and it also seems to have mattifying properties. Whenever I apply this cream, my face stays oil-free for much longer than usual, so this product can be very handy for those with oily skin.
The cream has also made a slight difference to my blemishes already and my skin feels brighter overall every time I use the product. I will probably do an update in a month or two regarding the long-term effects of the cream because blemishes never disappear within a few weeks and take a fair amount of time to fade no matter how effective the cream is. However, I am fairly certain that with continued usage, this cream will definitely help with my pigmentation because it contains Kojic Acid and Arbutin, both of which are known as skin brightening agents.
This cream is priced at INR 975 for a 100gm tube, which is a little steep, but since Glamisha is a luxury skincare brand, the price tag is expected. I will say that this product is worth the price for those with oily skin because it has excellent mattifying properties without being drying on the skin. I like that the cream is light-weight and gentle and does not cause any irritation on the skin. Brightening creams that are non-greasy are something quite rare and this is one of the few products that fit the bill. So if you want your skin to glow, not shine, then do try out this product, but remember to wait for a few minutes post application to let the product be soaked in by the skin.
The lovely folks at Glamisha recently sent me a couple of their products to try, and today I will be talking about their Face Wash With Mulberry and Licorice Extracts. However, before I review this face wash, let me tell you a little bit about the brand in case you are not familiar with it. Glamisha is a new skincare and haircare brand in India that claims to use the extracts of natural ingredients for improving the look of your hair and skin and making them healthier. Price and qualitywise, Glamisha fits in the bracket of Indian luxury brands and is currently available online on shopping sites such as Amazon and Flipkart. So does the brand really live up to its claims? Let’s find out!
This face wash comes in a white and orange tube with the classic Glamisha branding that is present on all the products from the brand. The tube is pretty sturdy and leakproof and dispenses the right amount of product for a wash with a single squeeze. The packaging is minimalistic and travel-friendly and although I usually prefer cuter packaging, this sophisticated tube works for me because the product it holds is so good! The face wash is a clear blue gel and although the color has nothing to do with the actual efficacy of the product, anything that is blue in color always makes me love it more 🙂 The formula lathers easily and upon massaging on the face, it feels extremely gentle. With a single wash, the product removes all the grease and dirt from the skin without causing any tingling or irritation, making it perfect for those with sensitive skin. The best thing about this product is that once you pat dry your face, you will notice that your skin has become incredibly soft and bouncy – it literally gives you baby skin after every wash.
The ingredient list has some noteworthy items such as glycerin, aloe vera, licorice extracts and mulberry extracts. While the first two help in hydrating the skin, the licorice and mulberry extracts are known to help with blemishes and pigmentation and are hailed as skin brightening agents. Bear in mind that the ingredients also include some sulphates but the face wash does not contain any parabens. Personally, I do not mind the presence of sulphates in a face wash because I am going to wash it off my face anyway.
Overall, I am loving this face wash for the winter months because it leaves my face moisturised and my skin feels soft like a pillow after every wash. It is priced at INR 350 for a gigantic 100ml tube which I feel is reasonable given the efficacy of the product. If you suffer from dry and dull skin during the colder months then I highly recommend this face wash to achieve healthy skin that actually glows.
Nykaa has recently released a LARGE number of products and it is becoming extremely hard even for the beauty bloggers to keep up with their releases. However, I did manage to get my hands on one product from their new launches that I knew that I would finish up for sure, and obviously, it had to be a kajal. The latest addition to their range of kajals is the Nykaa Eyem 24/7 Kajal which I have been trying out for you guys over the past few days.
This kajal is a smudge-proof, waterproof, jet black kajal that comes in a twist up packaging. It fares really well in the pigmentation department and does stay on the eyes for a long time (7-8 hours) when used on the waterline or as an eyeliner. In terms of pigmentation and final look, this kajal reminds of the Plum kajal but this one is a fraction of the price (INR 299), making it the more affordable buy. However, I feel that it is slightly harder than the Plum kajal and does tug at the waterline a little bit during application.
I also have mixed feelings about this being a twist up kajal. I tend to prefer the old school pencil versions because I notice that the twist up variety often breaks. In fact, a small chunk of this kajal also broke off while I was swatching the product on my hand. Also, Nykaa has added a pink rubber grip to the pencil for better hold but to be honest I feel that it would have been as easy to use without the grip but the pink accent does make the pencil look cooler.
Overall, this eye pencil does live up to its claims of being long-lasting and budge-proof. I also like that the formula does not irritate my sensitive eyes, which is pretty rare for me. So if you are looking for an affordable Kajal that stays put all day long then you must give this one a shot. I am sure you will love it if you do not mind twist-up pencils.
A good sunscreen is a must for everyone, whether they spend long hours in the sun or not. I have been quite lazy with my sunscreens in the past but this year I had resolved to use them daily and I am happy to report that I have been able to fulfill the resolution to a large extent. The primary reason why some people hate sunscreen is because it is an extra step in their skincare regimen and is often greasy, sticky, or does not sit well on the skin. For this reason, I have been opting for day creams that contain a fairly high SPF as well, and the Loreal Paris UV Perfect Even Complexion is one such product that I have recently added to my skincare stash.
This product is essentially a tinted moisturiser, with a very high SPF of 50+, and claims to provide protection against UV rays for up to 12 hours. I am not sure about the 12-hour claim but I am fairly certain that it is potent enough to protect you from the sun for a good 3-4 hours if you apply it right before heading out, which suits the requirements of most individuals. It is a very light and non-greasy moisturiser that provides mild hydration to the skin and is perfect for those with normal to oily skin. It is also tinted but the pigmentation is not intense at all and it won’t provide you much coverage. However, it does provide a glow to the face and reduces any redness by a small amount.
I like the nozzle dispenser, because it prevents the wastage of the product, and find the packaging pretty compact and cute. However, I do wish that the for the price of INR 550 for a 30ml bottle, this product contained a little more pigment. With the current intensity of the tint, only those with fairly clear skin can wear it on its own while those with pigmented or blemished skin will need to use a foundation or concealer on top if they want to cover up the spots.
Overall, if you are on the hunt for a moisturiser with a high SPF then this product will definitely work for you. It also comes in a non-tinted variant in case you do not care for the tint. Even though the product is slightly pricey, the high SPF justifies the cost and I love that it is not heavy or greasy at all. This is the only non-matte sunscreen that blends well into my skin and I therefore recommend all of you to give it a shot.
I always tend to switch up my fragrance when the weather moves from summer to winter. While I am all about light, aquatic-floral scents in the summer months, I prefer something warmer, sweeter, and muskier in the winters. This year, my winter scent is The Body Shop White Musk Smoky Rose Fragrance Mist. The Body Shop has different scents in its musk range but this is the perfect one for me because it isn’t too spicy or sweet, and nor is it too strong and manly, due to the floral hits of rose.
When you first spray the scent, the top notes that are quite musky will hit you and it will smell more sharp than floral, but once you let it settle for around 20-30 minutes, it turns into a beautiful blend of musk and rose. I would call it a sophisticated and warm floral scent which is a more grown-up scent than an out an out floral but not too mature either. The longevity of this mist is pretty good too, it does fade throughout the day but a faint fragrance stays on my skin even the next day. It is of course not as strong as a perfume because it is a body mist but if you do not want to fill the room with fragrance yet want to smell good throughout the day then this soft fragrance will do the job for you. If you want to build it up then you can even opt for the body lotion from the range.
Overall, I am really pleased with my choice of fragrance for the cold weather and will recommend this body mist to all those who have a similar preference in scents. This mist retails for around INR 1200, which is approximately half the price of the perfume in the same scent, making it a more affordable option for students and young professionals. Personally, I do find The Body Shop products overpriced in India but still like to invest in their body mists because they last so long and suit my taste really well. So the next time you are at a Body Shop store do give this scent a whiff and I am sure you will love it too!
